Packing Sneak Peak

Just a little sneak peak into my luggage for my trip to the USA. I started getting things out this morning because although I still have a week until I leave, I know I am going to be really busy up until then.

As the first part of my trip is for work I have to think about appropriate work outfits that can also be dressed down for the holiday part. Lots of light-weight blouses seem to be the go. It's going to be nice and warm over there and I can't wait! My two polka-dot bikinis are ready for the California coast.

Knowing how many pairs of shoes to take is always a struggle for me. I may even take out the brown pair of heels and look for a versatile pair over there as shoes are so much cheaper.

And no, this is not everything I will be taking. I did about four loads of washing yesterday so there is plenty more to come!

Birthday Boy

Tonight Ben and I went out to celebrate his birthday a little early. It's not until the 8th of August but as I will be overseas at the time we wanted to do something nice before I leave (next weekend!). He turns 25 - quarter of a century! I have already given him part of his present which was actually a computer screen. Haha. He has just built himself a new computer and the new screen was something he really wanted. I'd like to get him something else small and hide it somewhere so he can open it on his actual birthday when I'm not here. Anyway, tonight we went to Burger Fuel in Newtown which was completely satisfying as always.

Oh and I finally bit the bullet and bought my new camera! I got a Canon 600D which is all I need at the moment and I am really happy with it so far.

After dinner we went to one of my favourite spots in Sydney, Macmahon's Point, to play around with my camera. Obviously I am still learning but we didn't do too badly considering I don't have a tripod.

Ben has really taken to my camera (he loves technology in general) so hopefully I might be able to convince him to take some outfit photos for me this week!

Much love and enjoy your weekend.

Spectacles

Hello! I got a new pair of glasses this week which is very exciting. I've been wearing glasses my whole life. I got my first pair when I was about 18 months old. When I was little all of my glasses had special wire that curved around my ears so I wouldn't take them off. I think my Mum still has a box of all my old glasses somewhere - I'll have to dig them out. I now wear contact lenses as well, but it's exciting to get some new frames. Here you can see me (and my brother Sam) when I was about 2 years old in some very trendy frames. See, I was wearing oversized glasses before they were cool! Ha.

I hope you are all having a lovely Saturday. This morning I took Ben to the airport as he is off to Hobart for four days. I'm all on my lonesome at home and I've already done all the washing and cleaning so now I'm trying to figure out what to do! Guess I will just have to enjoy some 'me time'. A bubble bath might be in order :)

Sunday Brunch

Boots - Tony Bianco, Shorts - Levis, Belt - vintage from my Grandma, Shirt - Zara, Cardigan - Urban Outfitters

A quick outfit post from what I wore out to brunch today. Again - crappy photos sorry! I met up with a friend and had brunch at Kitchen by Mike in Rosebery. I'd been meaning to go there for a while now. It's a new-ish restaurant that has been set up in the same warehouse as a furniture and homewares shop called Koskela. I really liked the style and vibe there - cafeteria dining with a rustic twist.

I was pretty happy with this outfit that I quickly put together this morning. The cardigan from Urban Outfitters is super warm and comfortable - probably one of my favourite ever purchases. Believe it or not I don't actually own tonnes of clothes, but the ones I own I love and wear often by mixing and matching. I tend to do wardrobe culls pretty often and as I've moved house quite a lot in the last year I've ended up with less clothes each time. I still manage to fill more than my share of mine and Ben's wardrobes (we have a spare room too with another wardrobe) but hey, I'm a girl!

That said I've bought a few new things lately which wasn't the plan seeing as though I'm supposed to be saving for America. Anyway, I snapped up these Tony Bianco boots off The Iconic last week. I'd been eyeing them off for a long time but managed to control myself until now and thankfully they were one sale. I figure I will wear them a lot and they are comfortable enough to walk long distances in without killing my feet! The shirt is a new purchase from Zara. I've already worn it a few times and can wear it out to see friends as well as to work - so I think it's a good investment.

Anyway, I hope you've had been enjoying your weekends wherever you may be!

Tourists

I've had a really nice weekend with my sister and her boyfriend visiting. Last night we had a cheese and wine night and today we went out for breakfast to one of our local cafes then headed into the city to visit the aquarium, followed by a walk around the city and some afternoon sushi train. It's fun to play tourist in your own city sometimes. I also saw some chickens roaming the street yesterday so I thought you might like to see that. Cluck cluck.

Hope you had a good weekend and Happy July!
